Our providers consist of three physicians, six pediatric nurse practitioners, and one physician assistant all supported by a a full staff of experienced pediatric nurses.
Dr. Deanna Lyons received her medical degree from the University of Rochester. Her residency training was also at the University of Rochester where she completed a year as Chief Resident in Pediatrics. She is board certified with the American Board of Pediatrics, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr Lyons joined Stony Brook Pediatrics in 1996.
Dr. Jennifer Graham received her medical training from Ohio State University College of Medicine. After graduating from medical school, she completed her Family Practice residency at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, PA. Dr. Graham is board certified in Family Practice. She is on the Active Medical Staff at Noyes Memorial Hospital and currently practices exclusively pediatrics. Dr Graham joined Stony Brook Pediatrics in 2008.
Dr. Jason Elwell received his Medical Degree from the University of Toledo School of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio. He completed his Pediatric Residency in June 2010 at the University of Rochester. He is board certified with the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr Elwell joined Stony Brook Pediatrics in 2010.
Kathryn Edwards is a board certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner whom received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from The University of Buffalo in 2004. She then proceeded to work as a pediatric bedside RN for several years in such establishments as Johns Hopkins Hospital and Golisano Children's Hospital. Her RN experience ranges from inpatient medical surgical pediatrics as well as the Pediatric Emergency Room. She completed her Masters Degree at the University of Rochester in the Care of Children and Families Program. She has ongoing relationships with the University of Rochester and often mentors nurse practitioner students. She joined the Stony Brook Pediatrics team in 2009 and is a Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Katie transitioned her role to per diem in 2024.
Jordanne is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner whom received her Bachelor’s degree in health sciences from Syracuse University and a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Rochester in 2012. She then proceeded to work as a bedside RN for 5-6 years at Highland Hospital and where she worked at the Children's Hospital in the Pediatric ED. She completed her Master’s degree at the University of Rochester. In June 2018 she joined the Stony Brook Pediatrics team! She is a Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Kathryn Bennett is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Alfred State University. After graduating with her Associate’s degree in nursing she began working for Stony Brook Pediatrics as a Registered Nurse beginning in 2016. She then went on to complete her Master’s degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. She continued her career with Stony Brook Pediatrics in 2019 as a Board-Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
Ashley is a Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She first completed a Bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Roberts Wesleyan College. After a few years working in non-profit administration, she completed a second Bachelor's degree in Nursing at the University of Rochester and began working as a Registered Nurse at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She spent about ten years caring for patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and UR Urgent Care, where she was also the pediatric nurse educator. She completed her Master's degree at the University of Rochester in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. Ashley joined Stony Brook Pediatrics in July 2022.
Trisha Wheeler received her Bachelor’s degree from SUNY Geneseo, and trained as a Physician Assistant at the Medical College of Georgia. She is a Board Certified Physician Assistant. Tricia has been with Stony Brook since 1994. She has been an advocate for our patients in the community. Tricia has worked with students from many area PA programs during her time with Stony Brook and has been an excellent mentor. Tricia transitioned to a per diem role in 2023 as she now enjoys being retired as much as possible.
Casey is a Board-Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Brockport in 2018. She worked for several years as a pediatric nurse at Golisano Children’s Hospital before completing her Master of Science at the University of Rochester’s Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. Casey joined the Stony Brook Pediatrics team in August 2024.
